Period for Reckoning Election Expenses at the 2009 Local Elections

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 12B of the Local Elections (Disclosure of Donations and Expenditure) Act 1999 (No. 7 of 1999) as amended, has made an order determining the period for the reckoning of election expenses incurred by or on behalf of a candidate, designated person, national agent of a political party, or third party at the local elections to be held on June 5th,2009.
This period commences on April 7th, 2009 and concludes on polling day, June 5th 2009. Electoral spending during this period must be included on the relevant declaration forms submitted to the local authority concerned in connection with the 2009 local elections. Arising from recent amendments made to the Local Elections (Disclosure of Donations and Expenditure) Act 1999, spending limits will apply to candidates, national agents of political parties and designated persons at the 2009 local elections. Guidelines concerning the statutory obligations for candidates, designated persons, national agents of a political party and third parties are available through local authorities.

Tá ordú déanta ag an Aire Comhshaoil, Oidhreachta agus Rialtais Áitiúil, i bhfeidhmiú na gcumhachtaí a thugtar dó le halt 12B den Acht um Thoghcháin Áitiúla (Síntiúis agus Caiteachas a Nochtadh) 1999 (Uimh. 7 de 1999) arna leasú, a chinneann an tréimhse maidir le caiteachas toghchánaíochta a áireamh arna thabhú ag iarrthóir, duine ainmnithe, gníomhaire náisiúnta do
pháirtí polaitiúil nó tríú páirtí nó thar a gceann sna toghcháin áitiúla a reáchtálfar an 5 Meitheamh 2009.
Tosóidh an tréimhse an 7 Aibreán 2009 agus tiocfaidh sé chun críche an lá vótála, an 5 Meitheamh 2009. Ní mór caiteachas toghchánaíochta i rith na tréimhse sin a bheith san áireamh sna foirmeacha cuí faisnéisithe a chuirfear faoi bhráid an údaráis áitiúil chuí i dtaca le toghcháin áitiúla 2009. Ag eascairt as leasuithe a rinneadh le déanaí ar an Acht um Thoghcháin Áitiúla (Síntiúis agus Caiteachas a Nochtadh) 1999, beidh srianta caiteachais i bhfeidhm ar iarrthóirí, ar ghníomhairí náisiúnta do pháirtithe polaitiúla agus do dhaoine ainmnithe i dtoghcháin áitiúla 2009. Tá treoirlínte a shonraíonn oibleagáidí reachtúla d'iarrthóirí, do dhaoine ainmnithe, do ghníomhairí náisiúnta do pháirtí polaitiúil agus do thríú páirtíthe le fáil ó na húdaráis áitiúla.
