Tentative List - Ireland 2010 

Mr. John Gormley, T.D., Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, announced (14 April, 2010) Ireland’s new Tentative List of potential nominees to the World Heritage List. The new Tentative List has been submitted to UNESCO with a view to presentation to the World Heritage Committee meeting scheduled to take place from 25 July - 3 August 2010 in Brasilia.

Clonmacnoise World Heritage Site Bid

The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government recently engaged consultants, ERA-Maptec Ltd, to prepare a Nomination Document and Management Plan for Clonmacnoise, which is on Ireland’s current tentative list, for World Heritage Site inscription.

It is intended to submit documents to UNESCO in February 2009. If the application is successful the site will be inscribed on the World Heritage List in June/July 2010.

Clonmacnoise Heritage Site, Co. Offaly is regarded as an area of immense natural and cultural significance. A website is currently being developed by ERA Maptec which will provide information on the site and track the progress of the nomination bid. (http://www.clonmacnoisewhsbid.org/).
