The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Mr. John Gormley, T.D., recently established a group to carry out a review of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).The establishment of this Group follows a commitment in the Programme for Government to assess the performance of the EPA, its scope and mandate, and to examine whether the Agency has the optimum structure and governance arrangements in place to deliver its objectives effectively.  The Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government is acting as secretariat to the Review Group.

As part of the review process, a public consultation is being held so as to gather views from the public and interested parties. Information received in response to this consultation process will help the Review Group in formulating a report to Government on this issue.

Early responses would be appreciated where possible. Comments received may be made available publicly on the Department's website.  All submissions and comments submitted to the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government for this purpose are subject to release under the Freedom of Information Acts 1997 and 2003 and the European Communities (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations 2007.
