Annual Planning Statistics

The Annual Planning Statistics publication covers two areas of the planning system. Firstly it gives the basic numbers of applications for permissions to carry out development. It gives trends in relation to these basic figures, growth or otherwise from year to year, and also gives a general breakdown of the classes of development applied for - domestic, commercial, agricultural etc. It also gives the outcome of the granting authority's consideration of these applications - whether they were granted, refused or a decision was deferred. Secondly the Annual Planning Statistics gives information on the operation of the planning system itself - in broad terms, the enforcement of the provisions of planning legislation.

The Quarterly Planning Statistics provide figures for each planning authority on:Applications for permission by type (outline and permission) made during the quarter. Applications by type where a decision is deferred. Decisions to grant/refuse applications (by type).Decisions issued within 8 weeks of receipt. Deferral rate, refusal rate and percentage of decisions represented by those issued within 8 weeks.
